Fridays

I received this e-mail from our placement person at RAGOM. I know, I'm too sensitive. But, we're not at the fucking airport dealing with the TSA.

Hi Ray,

I don't know if anyone explained to you about puppy mill dogs when you adopted before? Mya is a dog from a puppy mill and those dogs have specific criteria in an adoptive home that we don't deviate from. Puppy mill dogs must have a large sized resident dog already in the home, to help teach them that they are safe--puppy mill dogs don't learn from humans, they take their cues from other dogs. They need no children under the age of 12, kids move too fast and make too much noise and often puppy mill dogs are terrified of them. They also need a physical fence, for their safety. These dogs often exhibit the flight response to the extreme when startled and if they get loose you will not get them back--because they are frightened of humans they will not come to you and are very difficult to catch. Because you don't have a physical fence, you are not qualified to adopt a dog with a puppy mill background, I'm sorry. We have tried to deviate from these requirements on occasion, when a particular dog seems to be doing well in foster care, and it doesn't work. The dogs regress and never become comfortable in the home and end up coming back in. I hope the explanation makes sense, it is sometimes difficult to explain without typing a book.
There are quite a few puppy mill dogs on the website, off the top of my head there is Mya, Jenni, Abby, Toby 07-009, Lady, Annie, Sunshine, there might be a few I'm missing.
I don't believe you have responded about being on the waiting list, as outlined in my original email? You seem to be asking about younger females, and many of those dogs are waiting list dogs. Can you please let me know if you want to be added or not?

Thanks,

Kim

We were turned down as prospective parents for Blossom the blind dog. The people fostering us wouldn't let us even meet her because we don't have a fenced in yard. That's cool, we'll keep looking.

Kiah's ashes are back at the U Vet Clinic. I want to print out a nice photo of her for the vet who looked after her that day. Dr Elise was wonderful. I passed on having her ashes shipped to us through UPS. Brown isn't qualified for that job.

My new psychiatrist still thinks I'm too happy. He wants to whack me out on thorazine. I gave him a sticker anyway.

Dead birch tree and two other scrub trees were removed from the front yard today by the contractor who has the Richfield contract.

Mrs had a yoga class after work. I better take her to Cain's to balance that out.

Those MAC guys know where everything is...

We're still here. But the ones who's whole butt wags when they see you are a special breed. We've initiated the adoption process with the rescue organization Kiah came from. That's Blossom in the photo. She's 6 months old. We haven't met her yet. She's a special needs little girl. She's blind. I'll keep you posted.

There isn't a whole lot to say about this except that some of the photos are pretty funny. Make sure you access some of the older posts.

Thursday

Debbie called this one 'The Dolly'. They all have little unique personality traits that define them. You always want to spend one more day, one more month, one more year with them. I'm improving because I can control my daily situations. I feel for Mrs who has to go to work where people can be so thoroughly focused on a couple of TPS (?) reports.

A real heartbreaker...

Kiah Bear returned to her alien planet this morning. Her departure has produced a river of tears. She was a lover and a cuddler and a real sweetheart. My life is better for knowing her. If you read this fairly regularly you know how I feel about my dogs. Good bye baby. Say hello to Maggie and Sadie for me.

The Winter Tour Of Alleys Starts Today

I've ridden a bicycle 18 miles outdoors in Minneapolis this year. Let's not make a big deal of it. Alley photo provided for John Wroblewski's benefit.

A triple homicide in Minneapolis should remind us that we still live in a city. In Chicago we keep our head on a swivel but people here roll their eyes when you refer to the 'hood'.

I still need to ride MTC buses for a 12 hour period. Just one of those things a city boy would find amusing.

Let's hear it for Miss Debbie who saved 30 dollars with her coupons at the grocery store last night!

You see that snow in my alley? Well some of it will be there in April.

I'm rooting for Alabama tonight in spite of the fact that Nick Saban is a world renowned douche nozzle.

Baby Diego was a wanker

Sgt Bolstad sent me this photo. I told him he didn't have enough flair on his uniform. I guess I'm mildly concerned that they gave him a gun. Little fucker still owes me like 600 bucks.

Riding my Crosscheck on the trainer in the basement. My knee hurts now.

Small loaf of bread from Twin City Grill makes an excellent bun when cut in half. My baloney has a first name.

Mrs will remove the Christmas tree the next time I leave the house for a period longer than 20 minutes.

When Kiah was at her weakest her mommy kept her strength up by feeding her maple syrup with a syringe. The vet thinks some type of toxin got in her system and zapped all of her energy.

Anybody seen the tires I took off my Salsa to when I put the cross tires on? Hiawatha? Freewheel?
